02 Portrait of a moonlit night 1,2025, Oil on wood,30x20cm.jpg

Statement

My practice explores spiritual presence within desolate landscapes. Inspired by a winter journey to Finland, I began understanding solitude not as absence, but as a container for emotions. In my work, unpeopled moonlit nights and empty snow fields are charged with emotional density—silence becomes another form of speech, emptiness becomes the premise of fullness.

The moon is a central motif in my work, symbolizing "distant intimacy." Un-possessable yet constantly present, it is both a companion to solitude and a silent witness. This quality of "presence without interference" resonates with contemporary people's craving for emotional authenticity within a rationalized society.

My creative method is "cross-media transference"—emotions evoked by music or poetry are transformed into new visual language through embodied painting processes. Each brushstroke carries bodily memory, seeking balance between discipline and freedom. Through repeatedly depicting similar scenes, I construct a "poetics of presence"—acknowledging solitude and incompleteness, yet not abandoning the pursuit of beauty and meaning.
